AIMS

Mission

FREE Project wishes to contribute to the empowerment of female academics in HEIs in the SMR by creating a space with relevant training tools, to help improve their management and operational skills. FREE Observatory will also strengthen gender and sustainability oriented research and innovation networks with help from FREE E&S Centres.

Vision

FREE Observatory is a virtual space open to the academic community worldwide, associations, organizations and researchers in particular interested in learning about, exchanging impressions and sharing experiences on matters relative to equality and sustainability in Higher Education Institutions within the South Mediterranean region.

OBJECTIVES

Advise E&S Centres

The Observatory will work hand in hand with the E&S Centres towards the establishment of key strategic plans, activities and recommendations that embrace the principle of equality between men and women in academy.

Open Repository

FREE Observatory will contain courses and materials available to all target audiences interested in updating and deepening their existing gender culture and knowledge within an egalitarian culture in the HeIs.

ACTIVITIES

The FREE E&S Observatory will focus on:

  • Identifying the existent inequalities between men and women in academic institutions
  • Collecting and analysing relevant information about gender equality in the SMR partner countries
  • Monitoring the situation of female academics and equal opportunities in SMR partner institutions
  • Promoting and enhancing learning and research networks on gender issues within the SMR
  • Being a centre of expertise, resources and specialized studies for the awareness and training of the academic community in the SMR
  • Aligning of Social Development Goals and 2030 Agenda of United Nations to the organisational policies and plans within all partner academic institutions
